The egg and I

The CandC Photography assignment for us all was to photograph eggs.  EGGS?  It was a challenge, first to find time to go to town and buy a white egg, and then to find ways to make it vaguely interesting.  I discovered that I really enjoy color photography more than black and white, that my creative juices are somewhat pedestrian, and that backgrounds and lighting are everything.  Not too surprising, after all.

I really had more fun when I began to think of photographing a brown egg.  I tried to find interesting background stuff, and turned up a weight-watcher scale with a translucent plate, producing the following:
Further exploration of the kitchen revealed a another small vase, a large blue vase, and a plate, so all got tried, with varying success.  I really liked using these as stars in the kitchen show, and thought it was fun to see the variation produced ...

but really my favorites were taken outdoors,

and I snuck in a little photo of the redbud in bloom, just to remind myself that spring seems to be arriving at last!

I agree, it was a fantastic exercise in learning about light and shadow, color and background. Really nice texture with the black and white. And the brown egg looks like it was enjoying its garden tour.

I love your black and white collage. The contrast and shadowing are great, especially the one in the center with the shadow almost at the center perfectly, and the one on the right with abstract shadowing cast across the shell. Lovely pics.

I love the white egg with the wonderful lights and shadows. The one with the stripes on them is my favorite.

I love the shot of the egg against the blue vase background. Am also impressed with out creative you were in coming up with kitchen shots- scales turned around to produce interesting reflections was a great idea and turned out really well.

i don't know -- i think you nailed the black and white shots, and the collage could easily stand on its own as wonderful abstract art. nice work.

I really like the bottom right egg of the b&W collage. Sorry I'm commenting so late.
